Consultant's map ![]() Consultant's folder Click on the title to show or hide the information. * Desert Homestead is located 32 km southeast of Sesriem, making it an ideal base from which to explore Sesriem and Sossusvlei. * Located in scenic, wide grassy valley sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft mountains with a view stretching to the distant dunes of the Namib Desert. * Offers a variety of horse riding activities ranging from 3 to 4 hour sundowner or breakfast rides to 1 to 3 night riding trails. * Other activities include sundowners drives, Naukluft excursions, Sossusvlei excursions and self-guided walking trails. * Desert Homestead is located in a wide, grassy valley sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft
mountains with a view stretching to the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west. * The surrounding are is characterized by three differing environments:

The first intake of Grootberg staff was trained at Desert Homestead. Ecologistix continues to provide management services to Grootberg Lodge. * During the dry season, the lodge can be reached in a small 2 X 4 sedan. * Although Desert Homestead lies in a desert, rain in other parts of the country can cause rivers to flow. Swakopmund Swakopmund to Desert Homestead is approx. 353 km * From Swakopmund drive south on the B2 to Walvis Bay (approx. 30 km) * From Walvis Bay take the C14 to Solitare (approx. 230 km) * From Solitaire drive on the C19 to the Desert Homestead sign (approx. 93 km) The B2 is tar road. The rest of the route is on gravel road. En-route attractions: Kuiseb & Gaub Passes.
