* Self guided walking trails: Solitaire Country Lodge has two well marked trails, with information on plants and trees found en route. The trails are 3.8 km and 8 km in length.

Camel Rides
* Short rides of 15 minutes or 30 minutes
* The picnic ride departs the lodge at 12h00 with a 45 minute ride followed by a picnic ride and either a 45 return ride or, if guests prefer, they can drive back in the lodge vehicle.
* The sundowner ride departs the lodge at 17h30 summer time and is about 1.5 to 2 hrs long.
* Presently Solitaire Country Lodge has 4 camels, but if the camel rides become popular more camels will be bought.

Social Responsibility
Solitaire Country Lodge is the main employer in the tiny community of Solitaire, aside from a fuel station and a small cafe and village store (also operated by the lodge). Each is known to everyone else, and where there is a need, Solitaire Country Lodge comes to the rescue.

The Rietoog Primary School often receive assistance from Solitaire Country Lodge to host small sports events or community get togethers.

Solitaire Country Lodge is also known for its generous assistance to the Nauchas Police Station and travellers who have problems with their vehicles.

Environmental Responsibility
Staff of the lodge have marked out trails in the desert to highlight the plant life and ecology of the area.

* During the dry season, the lodge can be reached in a small 2 X 4 sedan.
* Although Solitaire Country Lodge lies in an arid area, rain in other parts of the country can cause rivers to flow. The onset of the flow is very rapid.
* As a large part of the journey takes place on gravel roads, consultants should switch to an offroad vehicle during the rainy season (October to April).

Windhoek via Spreetshoogte Pass
Windhoek via Spreetshoogte Pass to Solitaire Country Lodge is approx. 241 km
* From Windhoek drive south on the B1 to Rehoboth (approx. 87 km)
* From Rehoboth drive south west on the C24 to the D1261 turn off (approx. 39 km)
* Drive on the D1261 to Nauchas (approx. 55 km)
* From Nauchas drive the D1275 down the Spreetshoogte pass to the C14 turn off (approx. 51 km)
* Turn left into the the C14 and continue to Solitaire (approx. 9 km)
The B1 is tar road, the rest of the route is gravel road.
NOTE: With a gradiant of 1:1.6 the Spreetshoogte Pass is one of Namibias steepest passes and can not be driven with trailors, caravans or top heavy vehicles.

Windhoek via Remhoogte Pass
