- When driving to the lodge, be adviced to use the D463 & not the D462 as it crosses deep, sandy riverbeds.
- Fish River Lodge is located on the western rim of the canyon and a visit to Hobas and the various viewpoints is not required to see the Canyon.

The chalets are set apart and constructed from dry-packed stone walls with large window fronts with views over the Canyon.

Travel details
* Fish River Lodge can be reached in a small 2 X 4 sedan.
* Although Fish River Lodge lies in an arid area, rain in other parts of
the country can cause rivers to flow. The onset of the flow is very
rapid.
* As a large part of the journey takes place on gravel roads,
consultants should switch to a 4x4 vehicle during the rainy season
(October to April).
Mariental
Mariental to Fish River Lodge is approx. 393 km
* From Mariental drive south on the B1 to Keetmanshoop (approx. 220 km)
* From Keetmanshoop take the B4 via Seeheim to the D463 turn off (approx. 71 km)
* Turn left into the D463 and follow it to the Canyon Nature Park sign (approx. 85 km)
* Turn left after the sign and follow the road to the Farm House (approx. 5 km)
* At the Farm House you will be given directions to the Fish River Lodge approx. 12 km further.
The B1 and B4 are tar roads. The rest of the route is on gravel road.
Keetmanshoop via Seeheim
Keetmanshoop via Seeheim to Fish River Lodge is approx. 173 km
* From Keetmanshoop take the B4 via Seeheim to the D463 turn off (approx. 71 km)
* Turn left into the D463 and follow it to the Canyon Nature Park sign (approx. 85 km)
* Turn left after the sign and follow the road to the Farm House (approx. 5 km)
* At the Farm House you will be given directions to the Fish River Lodge approx. 12 km further.
The B4 is tar road. The rest of the route is on gravel road.
Lüderitz
Lüderitz to Fish River Lodge is approx. 367 km
* From Lüderitz take the B4 via Aus and Goageb to the D463 turn off (approx. 265 km)
* Turn right into the D463 and follow it to the Canyon Nature Park sign (approx. 85 km)
* Turn left after the sign and follow the road to the Farm House (approx. 5 km)
* At the Farm House you will be given directions to the Fish River Lodge approx. 12 km further.
The B4 is tar road. The rest of the route is on gravel road.

The Canyon walls offer a geological history stretching back three-hundred-and-fifty million years. In the depths of the Canyon, the waters of the Fish River still carve their mark on history. But although it is rugged terrain, there are still animals and birds to be seen.

Fish River Lodge is the only lodge on the rim of the Canyon. From here, travellers set out on five day hikes, full day Canyon drives or guided walks along the rim. Fish River Lodge was built to bring travellers into close proximity with the wonder of the Canyon. It also lies on its own private reserve.
Few will enjoy the experience of waking to its views, but those who do will be changed forever.
